I just read your story in Entrepreneur! I’m not an entrepreneur, but I love to be inspired!
I loved that you took a negative experience of being passed over for a promotion to starting your own business…
Any thoughts of creating a cupcake with booze right inside of it??? I’m guessing the alcohol would evaporate!
Great job!
Hi Valerie,
Thank you so much for letting me know you read my cover story in Entrepreneur! Your idea is a super fun one, and for St. Patty’s Day we played around with infusing alcohol into a new artisan cupcake called the Black & Tan — a chocolate Guinness cake with Chocovine (chocolate red wine from Holland) cream cheese frosting. It was awesome!
I wish you all the very best!
cheers,
Marlo
Hi Marlo,
I just received my mag in he mail and immediately read the article. You are awesome! You really worked hard to investigate and get your ducks in a row before trying this. I live in Cairo, GA, 30 minutes from Tallahassee, FL. My sister, Mom and I have always wante to start a bakery but want to do something different than the average bear (or bakery). This inspires me to look at other avenues. Maybe not booze and cake, but something more ault like. We also know that there are several bakeries in Tally and not a big enough market in Southwest Georgia. Thanks for inspiring me. I will make sure my sister and Mom read the article too. Oh and I too quit my job on Feb 8the after 8.5 years of going nowhere in accounting. Totally understand the need for something more. Oh and how come no wild turkey 101 with those cupcakes??
. Congrats, dorice
Hi Dorice,
I wish you and your family tons of good luck as you pursue your dream to open a bakery. It sounds like you’re being very smart to think carefully about location, location, location and concept. You’re on the right path!
No wild turkey 101 at mine — I only have a beer & wine license, not full liquor
cheers on going for your dream!
Marlo
Marlo,
Recently, I was reviewing the Foxnews Business website and came across the link the Entrepreneur cover article.
Congratulations with the success of your concept and good luck moving forward with your ideas for growth of the brand.
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Thank you so much for your nice note. I appreciate your good words!
cheers and all the best,
Marlo
Every time i see the Chase commercial i think “that is so amazing! I want a bar like that!”. I love sweets and booze. I’m a beer girl myself (and for some reason i get the stink eye for being a girl who loves beer!) but some wines i do enjoy. Last night I even told my boyfriend, man, i’d love to start a business like that, then this morning while at work I check out http://www.entrepreneur.com/ and there you are!!!!!!
I don’t know you but I’m insanely excited for you
I live by the entrepreneurial spirit and i’m working to break free from my cubicle life and working for “the man” and you’re an inspiration. I’m a Gemini and being cooped up in an office is NOT the life I want to lead. You are a true inspiration to women and entrepreneurs all over that you can be original and successful!
I love how you had no plan b! I wish you the best of luck, not that you need it and If i ever come to NY (I’m in California) it will be one of my first stops!
Sincerely Inspired,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
. Cheers to livin’ the dream instead! Marlo

Hi, Marlo! Congrats on the mag cover! I met you last month at Dar’s house. I married your friend Sarah – SG! Wanted to say that I’m coming up to the city on Tuesday,4/5 for meetings the next day, and I’m going to try to swing by that evening to pick up some desserts. If you’re working, I hope to say ‘hello’. It not, well, I’m still buying your cupcakes!!!
